Social Value Strategy

A social value strategy is an approach to business or organisational decision-making that prioritises creating positive social and environmental impacts alongside economic benefits.

National Themes Outcomes and Measures Framework for Social Value

To develop a social value strategy, we will help you to identify the social and environmental issues that your company can address through its operations, products, and services. This can involve engaging stakeholders, conducting research and analysis, and assessing the company's impact on society and the environment. Once these issues have been identified, we will create a plan to address them, and incorporate social value metrics into its performance management and reporting processes. Our team are trained in applying The National TOMs – Themes, Outcomes and Measures – a framework for delivering excellence in measuring and reporting social value. The framework is designed to support embedding social value into business processes through procurement, management or strategy. To quantify the social value you are generated in financial terms, we will assess the following:

  1. Inputs – Resources of all kinds.

  2. Activities – What the organisation does.

  3. Outputs – The direct result of an activity.

  4. Outcomes – The longer term change it wants to see in people, communities, or areas it affects.

  5. Expected Impact – The values it holds.
